Ready for Liftoff

When André Kuipers needed an exact copy of the suit he wore on his ISS Expedition of December 21 in 2011 for a film shoot, GLOED rose to the challenge. As his original suit was at the dry cleaners - no just kidding, it is part of an exhibiton and besides, this one is a lot easier to move about in - a copy was made based on meticulously studied photographs.

It took some detailled technical design, a bit of creative hard ware shopping, and a whole lot of funny looks at the check out counter just to imitate all those extremely important but funny-looking bits and bobs that come with your everyday space suit. But André was over the moon with the result. GLOED only hopes he doesn't mix it up with his real suit the next time he goes on a mission!
